Canadian Sports Television Channels = Toronto Maple Leafs
Hockey Night in Canada, one of CBC's most viewed programs.
Every saturday night, Bob Cole and Harry Neale bring you the "matchup you wan't to see" between arch Canadian rivals.
CBC ensures that they will:

"We will work with the NHL to do our best to ensure that viewers are able to see the games they want to see on Saturday nights. Providing coverage of the NHL’s Canadian teams is paramount for us, and we take this process very seriously. Over the past few years, we have increased coverage of Canadian teams, particularly in the west, with the second game of our weekly doubleheader. "
"See the games they want to see on Saturday nights"
All we see on Saturday nights are the Maple Leafs lose once more or the Vancouver Canucks take on some central American team (with occasionnally a game versus Edmonton...)
Who says we want to see the Maple Leafs play the Flyers? Only LEAFS (emphasis on LEAFS) fans want to SEE (emphasis on SEE) their team lose another game and fall lower in the Eastern Conference standings and destroy all playoff hope.
What about the life somewhere outside Ontario? (Leafs and Senators fans, actually, come to think of it, the only time the Sens are shown on HNIC is when they play the Leafs. Go figure)
What about life somewhere outside Alberta or British Columbia?
Why not in Quebec? Where Bill 101 originates? Where the NHL's legendary team, the Montreal Canadiens play in front of sold out crowds of 21 073?
CBC doesn't want to admit it, but they don't view the Canadiens because it is not "paramount" for them.
They view the Maple Leafs because the Leafs actually pay to have Bob Cole say "and the Maple Leafs will be headed to the penalty box once more" or Dick Irvin say "Well just look at this, Mats Sundin drops a pass for Alex Steen who just pounded it over Aebischer's head..."
Montreal Canadiens broadcast rights are owned by the french channel RDS, who broadcasts all their games.
TSN owns certain rights to the Montreal Canadiens and the other canadian teams.
TSN, unlike CBC, broadcast the Canadiens on a regular basis.
They are scheduled to view more Canadiens games than the Maple Leafs (!).
If CBC takes this process ''seriously'' then why does the HNIC broadcasting group always indirectly ''prefer'' the Leafs?
On Saturday March 25th, the Canadiens took on the Leafs during HNIC.
It turns out the Canadiens won an ugly and violent game, destroying the Leafs 6-2.
Bob Cole did nothing more than comment on the Leafs and how badly they were playing when he could have been saying that Montreal played a fantastic game.
In ''Coach's Corner'' with infamous Canadian hockey person, Don Cherry, Cherry spoke about...you guessed it, the Leafs. Not a word about the bleu-blanc-rouge.
CBC recently payed tribute to Tie Domi.
Tie Domi. Seriously. They had a 45-minute tribute towards him with a speech that lasted 10 minutes!
But why honnour Domi? What has he accomplished besides breaking hockey players backs and sitting in the penalty box? Nothing.
CBC respects Tie Domi more than Bernard ''Boom Boom'' Geoffrion!
Why not say something about him that last more than 2 minutes?
Why not deduct time from Tie Domi's ''tribute'' that lasted 45 minutes and address it to Geoffrion?
And to finish off, CBC has not increased coverage of Canadian teams, they have increased the number of Leafs games they broadcast.
I'll say it again, it's all about the money and boy do the Leafs have it.

Perhaps it's time to look at this from a different angle. I am in no way a Leafs fan, nor have I been, or will ever be, but is the whole "Leafs coverage" issue really as bad as we're making it out to be? CBC does cover the Eastern teams every saturday, just not in the same way they cover the west. The Ottawa valley always gets the Sens games, and perhaps that's not a bad thing, as I'm sure there are Sens fans across Canada, it's probably safe to assume they have a smaller fanbase across the country than the Leafs, hence CBC appeals to the majority. It's not the most popular method, and I don't necessarily agree with it either, but it's what they've settled on. As for what's relevant to us, CBC does air Habs games every saturday regardless, it just happens to be on their french affiliate, SRC. SRC may use the RDS feed to broadcast Habs games to us in French every saturday, but from what I can tell from a lot of fans on here, bilingual or not, they prefer the French broadcasters to the broadcasters that CBC has anyways, as CBC has "nothing but Leafs homers like Bob Cole and Harry Neale". As RDS airs EVERY Habs game throughout the season, I can't see why Habs fans in Montreal, or anyone across Canada that has RDS, is complaining about this. You get 82 out of 82 games, yet the Leafs air once a week on CBC, which is roughly 20 games. Hardly anything to complain about, at least for those of you with RDS. Let the Leaf fans have their little 1 game a week. As for myself, I have more limited access to Habs games than the majority of you. I live in Alberta, and it's currently financially unfeasible to get a digital cable box so I can order RDS. As such, I can only watch the games on SRC on saturdays, or the occasional game TSN airs. That being said, CBC does not care about the opinions of a few disgruntled Habs fans. Some of you may not like it, but that's just the way it is. I myself don't speak a word of French, but I don't care if the broadcast is in English or French, as it's the action on the ice that matters, not who's calling it.
