Montreal Canadiens playoff push...
The Canadiens enter Saturday slotted into the number 7 spot and most likely have it in the bag.
The two games remaining on the Canadiens schedule, versus Buffalo and New Jersey, may decider who they face in the 1st round of the playoffs.
Now, who would they prefer?
Hungry Carolina, to whom they are winless this season, or declining Ottawa (minus Dominik Hasek) against whom they've won 4 straight games.
The answer is obvious.
Ottawa would be a great fit, it'd be the first time in the "new" Sens franchise history that they face the storied Canadiens. It'd be a grueling series, the teams are very closely matched up.
With the scheduled return of Martin Havlat, and eventually Dominik Hasek, the Sens may have an advantage over Montreal.
...Montreal also has a dilemma in goal.
David Aebischer has performed well in his past few starts, thus earning him more playing time from head coach Bob Gainey.
Cristobal Huet has the better numbers, but Aebischer has actual playoff experience.
...Alex Kovalev says he wants to play on a steady line, currently Bulis-Ribeiro-Kovalev.
He says that he would like the lines to not be shuffled too much.
